There is something its owner can only use by breaking it.
Leave it whole and it will never be of any use.
Yet it is carefully made, and breaking it takes a little skill. What is it?

Answer
A piggy bank — the old kind, with no plug in the bottom.
It is moulded in china or glass, sometimes beautifully, but the only way to get the savings out is to smash it.
